About the studio

Located on the edge of Downtown Walla Walla, The Refinery is a community pottery and art studio offering classes, studio memberships, and quarterly markets featuring local artists. Our goal is to create diverse art experiences and nurture artists at all skill levels.

We believe that art is a way of life that is accessible to all and not reserved for exclusive galleries or expensive higher education degrees. We know that anyone can make and appreciate art and aim to provide a space to foster that creativity.

About the owner

Jess has been an artist in one form or another for most of her life. She enjoys all mediums but has a particular fondness for clay. Growing up helping her mom with a slip casting business, Jess found clay only as an adult and became hooked immediately. She built a studio in her garage, started combining fiber with many of her ceramic pieces, and began selling her work in a local gallery.

Now, drawn to sharing pottery and other art mediums, she finally achieved her dream in opening the Refinery. Jess can’t wait to meet you and hopes you’ll visit. (Scout too!)
